The Salinas City Council unanimously approved a Mandatory Return Service Charge for servicing contaminated recycling carts on and after the 5th contaminated cart has been identified (meaning if you’ve been tagged 5 weeks in a row or more), a mandatory fee of $12.89 will apply for each return trip to service a contaminated recycling cart as trash. The contaminated cart will be billed at the trash rate for that sized cart.
