BFI News > Proper Use of BFI Collection CartsProper Use of BFI Collection Carts BFI Waste Services of Salinas prides itself on being safe and reliable with both our collection services and customer care. The idea of being as safe as possible at all times extends to even the collection carts customers keep for home use. The BFI carts are designed for ease of use with an attached lid, easy to grip handle and sturdy wheels. Please note, however, that when your cart is full of trash, recycling or yard waste it will be more "bottom-heavy," in other words the weight is situated more at the bottom to middle portion of the cart. In this instance it may be easier to push the cart in front of you when moving it to the curb. Once collection has occurred, you will find your empty cart can tip easily (which is why carts easily fall over once emptied on windy days) and is more awkward to push. BFI suggests that when you are wheeling your empty cart away from the curb you pull it behind you, rather than push it in front of you - and always keep the lid closed. If you ever have questions regarding BFI collection
or materials, please contact Customer Care at 775-3840.
